The cruise ship Carnival Horizon hit Pier 90 this morning in New York City while performing a docking maneuver at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.. According to Carnival Cruise Line statement, no one was hurt by the collision, and the cruise ship sustained minor damages. Part of the parking garage and two support beams were damaged by the crash.
Passengers onboard were able to disembark without any issues. The Coast Guard is investigating the allision between Carnival Horizon and the pier at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York Vessel Traffic Service were alerted of the accident. Investigators, Marine Inspectors and a Facilities team from Coast Guard Sector New York responded to the scene after the Carnival Horizon allided with Pier 90.
Carnival Cruise Line released the following statement “While docking this morning in New York, Carnival Horizon made contact with the west end of pier 90. There were no injuries to report and impact to the bow of the ship was minor. Assessments of the pier are currently underway. The U.S. Coast Guard and other authorities have been notified.”
Carnival spokesperson said the ship will set sail this afternoon on its regular 8 Night Eastern Caribbean voyage.
