Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is celebrating a special occasion as Captain Victor Stoica marks his 15-year anniversary in command, recognizing a remarkable maritime career that has spanned nearly 40 years at sea.
Reflecting on his journey, Captain Stoica shared that his passion for the sea began in 1986 when he embarked on his first international voyage as a cadet aboard the Romanian training ship Neptune. That early experience laid the foundation for a lifelong career in maritime navigation and leadership.
Following his cadetship, he graduated from the Marine Academy in Romania and began working on cargo ships, serving first as Third Officer and later advancing to Second Officer. His transition into the cruise industry came in 1998 when he joined a casino vessel operating “cruises to nowhere” from Miami, Florida, taking on the role of Chief Officer aboard the Tropicana.
Soon after, Captain Stoica joined Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, serving as Second Officer and Safety Officer aboard the Crown Dynasty, which later became the Braemar. When Fred. Olsen acquired the vessel in 2001, he continued his career with the company, steadily progressing through the ranks.
His dedication and experience culminated in 2011 when he was promoted to Captain, taking command of the Boudicca. Over the years, he went on to command several ships across the Fred. Olsen fleet, including the Braemar, Balmoral, and Black Watch, earning respect from both crew members and passengers for his professionalism and leadership.
As Captain Stoica approaches additional milestones in 2026, including nearly 40 years at sea, his career stands as a testament to dedication, perseverance, and a deep commitment to maritime excellence.
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines congratulated Captain Stoica on his anniversary, recognizing his longstanding contribution and leadership across the fleet.
