Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the official numbers of infected crew and passengers with Norovirus on Anthem of the Seas.
- 125 out of 4,061 or (3.08%) passengers are reported with gastrointestinal symptoms.
- 16 out of 1,592 crew members are reported with gastrointestinal symptoms.
Anthem of the Seas will arrive today in Bayonne, NJ where two CDC environmental health officers and an epidemiologist will board the cruise ship and evaluate the outbreak.
In response to the outbreak, Royal Caribbean corporate office is sending four Hotel and Housekeeping Operations Managers, three Public Health staff, and one nurse. In addition, the company will send contract cleaning staff and equipment, and 10 additional cleaning crew.
Organized disembarkation for active cases will be in place to limit the transmission to well guests. Aftre disembarcation crew will be engaged in special deep cleaning of all areas onboard, in order to prevent the virus spreading on embarking passengers.
