A recent study released by the US Royal Society Open Science conducted on a cruise ship claims that the usual sanitation measures such as cleaning and isolating people affected by Norovirus, don't do much to protect existing and oncoming passengers and crew on board. A computer-based model of a norovirus outbreak on a cruise ship suggests that the crew could be responsible for spreading the bug between voyages to new passengers.

Antonio Triano Perez, 36-year-old Spanish crew member working as an animator on the cruise ship MSC Poesia was reported missing in Rio de Janeiro. The director of this modest movie entitled “Ghost of the Ocean” recorded it on board, without any budget, but with lots of love, passion, and help from his fellow coworkers. Behind this project is the Brazilian crew member Angelo Moraes, together with 60 crew members from around the world, who were part of the casting crew. This movie was completely directed, written, edited and filmed by Angelo Moraes.

Royal Caribbean has announced its annual raise of automatic gratuities for the crew. Starting January 2, 2018, guests in regular staterooms will pay a $14.50 per guest per day service charge and $17.50 for guests in Grand Suite and above. That is one dollar raise from the previous service charge, which means one dollar extra for the crew. That is one dollar extra for the crew in theory. Reality is something different.
