“Ghost of the Ocean” The First Ever Cruise Ship Crew Movie Released

The first ever amateur movie produced by a cruise ship crew member was released. The director of this modest movie entitled “Ghost of the Ocean” recorded it on board, without any budget, but with lots of love, passion, and help from his fellow coworkers. Behind this project is the Brazilian crew member Angelo Moraes, together with 60 crew members from around the world, who were part of the casting crew. This movie was completely directed, written, edited and filmed by Angelo Moraes.

As a former crewmember that has worked for several cruise lines, I can relate to the constant high stress situations that crewmembers must endure on a daily basis. No photo is worth risking your life. This doesn’t apply to the young woman who sits on top of the ships open deck railings just to take an amazing photo, not realizing that she could easily fall off the cruise ship and be lost at sea. The dangerous behavior was captured by a passenger Nick Corben, on board the cruise ship P&O Aurora, while the vessel was sailing on a 2-day voyage from Southampton.

The internet is an increasingly popular place for scamming people. Recently we received an email from a man who contacted a person advertising cruise ship jobs for Princess Cruises on Facebook. The person, Mark John Smith, claiming to be Princess Cruises recruiting partner to send him numerous documents and pictures presented bellow and asked for $300 in fees.

Why It's So Risky Docking a Cruise Ship in Port?

Smithsonian Chanel released an interesting video showing how risky is to do a docking maneuver at the port of Ocho Rios, Jamaica. In the video captain of the cruise ship MSC Divina Pier Paolo Scala, explains what the challenges are during the docking of a large vessel. “It is very, very quick maneuver there, and we need to watch for the stern when we turn, that we are completely clear as we enter the starboard side.” Says Captain Scala.
