Señor Frog's Great Party’s or?

Submitted by kgnadmin on

For most crew members who have ever been in Cozumel or Nassau may have an idea of the dangers which may occur in these ports. Unfortunately, not a lot of passengers are aware of the same dangers, thus might end up going through the painful process of seeking justice in the same and not find it. Most people who have cruised the waters which lead to these port are aware of how much fun they can have in the party place called Senor Frogs. This place is famous for parties and drinks which are anything but ordinary, especially when it comes to the size of the same.

While most passengers learn the lesson in the beginning of their cruise career not to walk alone on most of the ports, never to go where there are not enough people to help if anything should occur, and never to drink something that they did not see mixed or opened in front of them, passengers have to learn these lessons the hard way by experiencing one or more dangerous situations.

This connects to the story which was introduced by Mexican News "Poresto." According to this news website, a woman from RCCL's Freedom of the Seas cruise ship was allegedly drugged, sexually assaulted, and battered by several employees of Senor Frog's in Cozumel, Mexico on August 10th, 2012.

Apparently, the woman – age 19 or 20 – was cruising on the RCCL cruise ship with her family. One of the ships port-of-calls is Cozumel Mexico because this port can accommodate the size of this megaton. While in the port the young woman and her family went on a tour and finished their day in Senor Frog's. Senor Frog's is one of the most popular party bar in Cozumel and is frequently visited by both passengers and crew members. Apparently the family and the young woman had few drinks and after awhile the young woman started dancing with one of the DJ's who works in the bar.

The party continued in the DJ's cabin where the DJ provided the young woman with a drink. After the drink, the young woman lost a track of things, but vaguely remembers sequences of occurrences which included four men attacking her while she tried to fight them off. According to reports, the victim noticed other employees who came in the DJ's booth to watch the horrors which she had to endure as a victim of physical, psychological, and emotional assault.

Once the alleged perpetrators tired from the young woman, she reunited with her family and was taken back to the cruise ship. While on the ship she experienced pain and burning in her genital area and bruising was visible on her body. The family decided to remain on the port and seek justice for the brutal incident, but came to find out that justice is not such easy task to achieve in the such tourist places as Cozumel. The four Senor Frog's employees were called to the local magistrate, but were released shortly.

This is most certainly not the first assault on passenger in a port-of-call. Most of the times passengers are the first picks for perpetrators because they seem an easy target because they are not aware of the possibilities, but it does not mean that crew members are not targeted as well. There have been cases where crew members have been assaulted, robbed, and even murdered while in port. Our best advice for all crew members who visit ports such as this one would be as we mentioned before, do not go anywhere without company, do not walk in dark alleys, do not carry a lot of money, and always be present when your drink is been made or opened.
