Carnival Elation experienced one-hour power outage at around 1:45 a.m. this morning, as the cruise ship was returning to its homeport Jacksonville. This caused the ship to arrive at 10:20 a.m. instead of scheduled arrival at 9:30 a.m. Some passengers in panic placed their lifejackets and headed to their muster stations. Carnival Cruise Line is reporting the outage as "short," and the situation was under control.
Carnival representative sent a statement saying: "The cruise ship Carnival Elation experienced a short power outage starting at around 1:45 a.m. this morning. The ship's technicians promptly restored power and the ship is expected to arrive at its homeport of Jacksonville at approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning, slightly behind schedule."
Passengers also report that there was a medical emergency on the cruise ship and one guest died onboard. According to the reporter Paige Kelton the passenger died from natural causes during the cruise.
