An elderly passenger has died onboard the cruise ship MSC Splendida while the vessel was in Sir Bani Yas, United Arab Emirates on April 02, 2019. According to a passenger sailing on Splendid, the man died during dinner presumably of a heart attack. Revival was attempted by the crew, and emergency personnel came to transfer him to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The ship was docked At Sir Bani Island at the time of the tragic event and the next port of call Muscat was canceled as the death had to be documented by the United Arab Emirates authorities.  

“I am not positive at which stage he was pronounced dead at, but I know emergency personnel was called to evacuate him.  This Happened 2 days ago either 6 or 8 pm, not sure which dinner he was at.  I think it was the 8 pm.” the passenger says.

MSC Splendida departed from Dubai on March 30, on a 22 Night Grand Voyage, visiting some 11 cruise destinations before arriving in Hong Kong, China.
