After more than four years of planning and 23 months of construction Celebrity Edge, the first revolutionary representative of the company’s Edge Class was officially handed over to Celebrity Cruises.
The handover ceremony was attended by the President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, Richard D. Fain and the President of Celebrity Cruises, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, while this truly beautiful ship was moored in the Chantiers de l 'shipyards Atlantique of Saint-Nazaire, France. Also present was the Celebrity executive team and shipyard officers, including General Manager Laurent Castaing. Together they welcomed the 1,377 crew members on board, representing 72 nationalities from around the world.

After the transatlantic crossing, Celebrity Edge will kick off its inaugural season with seven-night cruises that will alternate between the Western and Eastern Caribbean. In the spring of next year, Celebrity Edge will cross the Atlantic again to offer its guests Mediterranean cruises, with a series of itineraries between 7 and 11 nights that also include Barcelona and Rome.
After the Celebrity Edge delivery ceremony, at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique there was the ceremony of laying the keel of Celebrity Apex, the "sister ship" of Celebrity Edge Class that will enter service in 2020, while two more Edge ships will follow in 2021 and 2022.
