Its official, the latest Carnival Cruise Line ship, Carnival Horizon passed its first-ever USPH (the United States Public Health) Inspection. CDC Officers boarded the vessel Yesterday, July 27, in the port of San Juan, Puerto Rico and after several hours inspection, the ship was awarded 96 out of 100 USPH points.

The unannounced USPH public health inspection is conducted following the CDC Vessel Sanitation Program. Inspectors can board at any time when the ships enter the US ports. During the inspections, all areas of the cruise ship are inspected in order to determine the sanitation standards on board including food handling, medical facilities, water systems, water quality, dining rooms, and common ship’s areas. CDC website has yet to release the report of the first inspection on Carnival Horizon, however, several crew members have confirmed the score. We like to congratulate all Carnival Horizon crew for their outstanding achievement and their hard work.

Carnival Horizon joined Carnival Cruise Line fleet in April 2018, with a 13-day Mediterranean voyage from Barcelona - the first of four round-trip departures from this Spanish port.  Then the ship did a repositioning cruise to the U.S. with a 14-day trans-Atlantic crossing from Barcelona to New York May 9-23, 2018. Carnival Horizon's 2018 schedule from its homeport  New York includes eight-day cruises operating round-trips from the Big Apple visiting Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Amber Cove, Dominican Republic.
