A crew member on board the cruise ship Carnival Legend was airlifted to hospital after suffering from appendicitis. The Carnival cruise ship left Melbourne the previous day and was sailing to Isle of Pines, New Caledonia when the bridge officers requested assistance for a medical evacuation. The Toll NSW Ambulance Rescue Helicopter rescue crew responded to the scene and winched off the crew member.
According to 3AW Drive, Carnival Cruise Line confirmed that the captain was able to position the ship off the Australian coast to enable the helicopter crew to land. The crew member was reported to be in a stable condition.
Here is a short video of the medical evacuation.
Toll Air Ambulance crew posted this spectacular bird’s-eye view just before the rescue operation.
The cruise ship Carnival Legend always looks spectacularly impressive to our crew from high above the ocean and this bird’s-eye vision is no exception! #actas #southcare
