We are sad to report that a team member has passed away onboard Carnival Sunshine on April 27, while the cruise ship was in Port Canaveral, Florida. The ship’s departure was delayed until the team member has been taken off the ship and announcement was made via PA system about this tragic event. Carnival CareTeam has been in contact with the team member’s family in order to provide every possible support. 

We have received a message stating that the person who passed away was a high ranking officer onboard Carnival Sunshine, however, this was not confirmed.

According to a passenger sailing on the current voyage on Sunshine, Carnival Cruise Line released the following statement:

“We are saddened to confirm the death of a Carnival Sunshine crew member today while the ship was in port at Port Canaveral, FL. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues. Our guests onboard have been very understanding about the delayed departure and we appreciate their patience.”
