Carnival Liberty experiencing technical issues

Due to technical issues Carnival Liberty arrival at the port of Galveston, Texas was delayed for 10 hours. Carnival Liberty was on 4 Night Western Caribbean voyage, setting sail from Galveston, Texas on October 27, to Cozumel, and was expected to arrive in Galveston, Texas today, October 31 at 8 a.m. Instead Liberty will dock in Galveston at 4:30 p.m. and will start the embarkation from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. As a result of this delay the cruise line announced that they will cancel the port of Progreso, scheduled for the following cruise.

Carnival Cruise Line released the following statement “Carnival Liberty is experiencing a technical issue which is only affecting the ship's maximum cruising speed.  Repairs are underway however, based on our technical assessment, it will take some time to complete the work.  The ship is now expected to be docked today at 4:30 PM and debarkation will begin shortly thereafter. Since we will be busy saying good bye to our guests from the previous cruise, check-in for your cruise will take place from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM this evening.  As a result of this delay in sailing today, we will be forced to cancel our call to Progreso.  We know how much you were looking forward to this port and sincerely apologize for this change. “

According to Syndi Haywood, a passenger on the following cruise the company announced that the guests onboard will receive a $15 lunch credit, $50 per person on board credit and a 25% future cruise discount*. Please note we are returning to Galveston at 4PM on 11/5. You will receive full details at embarkation. We apologize for this change.
