Azamara Club Cruises has announced senior officers of their latest cruise ship Azamara Pursuit. With the announcement of the team of highly accomplished professionals, the ship is guaranteed to be a success since its first cruise in August 2018. Senior captain Carl Smith, Cruise Director Tony Markey, and Hotel Director Ryszard Gusmann are very popular with Azamara loyal guests, so they will help to continue company’s success.

Senior Captain Carl Smith 

For the ones who have meet Captain Smith know how professional and friendly he is. With his charisma and genuine attention to all guests, he is accessible at all times for all on-board.How many Captains do you know which knows all of the crew by their names, and approaches with respect to all from cooks to dishwasher to service staff? I know one, and that’s Captain Smith.

When asked WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF ABOUT WORKING WITH AZAMARA? His reply is “The crew. I've been at sea 23 years, and the crew we have both on the Quest and on the Journey don't exist anywhere else. Honestly, there's nothing else that matches the genuine friendliness and happiness you find here. In one word he is truly loved captain by his crew and guests.”

Hotel director Ryszard Gusmann

Ryszard has been with the company since the day one. Back in 2007 when Azamara Cruises was born, he was part of the opening team of Azamara Journey, the company’s first cruise ship. Starting at the position of Assistant Restaurant Manager, his energetic personality, attention to details, and many other qualities that he possesses was noticed by the Azamara heads and was promoted to Restaurant Manager. Shortly after followed promotions to F&B Manager and finally the highest position of Hotel Director. Richard will not allow for a single guest to leave the ship unless he is 100% satisfied. In other words, Ryszard is one man army.

"I’m very privileged to be part of such a team and Larry Pimentel's vision. Our 3rd ship, Azamara Pursuit, is the accomplishment of all crew, staff, officers, and results of their hard work." Richard says.

Cruise Director Tony Markey

Tony is probably the only Cruise Director on the seven seas who have participated in the biggest song contest in Europe (Euro Vision) as a singer of the group Ritzy. He joined Azamara Club Cruises as Cruise Director in 2008 and was switching between Journey and Quest. Tony’s extremely friendly personality gives a special touch and the signature mark of each Azamara voyage. You will find him always stopping to talk with the guests, a concept of service that’s very rare these days. "Now our family is growing, I feel like a proud uncle helping a new niece to grow & develop as I take out the beautiful Pursuit as Cruise Director." says Tony.

With the new ship, there will be plenty promotions for the friendlies crew on the seven seas, such as Laze Nikolov, Mario Kucko, Daniel Bejan, Tekin Sahin, Adell Terassi and many others.

Azamara Pursuit is the same R-class vessel as Journey and Quest. The ship is currently sailing under the banner of P&O Cruises as P&O Adonia. After extensive refurbishment, P&O Adonia will exit dry-dock in August 2018, as Azamara Pursuit. The christening ceremony will be held in Southampton, England.
